I just got back from an open mike night, sponsored by my favorite local music store. I've never been to one before, so I was a little nervous, but it went okay. I did two of my own songs, Spoonful of Truth, and Plundertown. I flubbed a set of lines on Plundertown, but no one seemed to notice, and no one cared when I boffed my beautiful guitar solo on Spoonful. I debuted my new stage hat. There were some pretty good performers, and some not-so-good ones. Pretty good times.

Congratulations, it's always fun to do those.
I'm out of town and went to a new one last night, They said it started at 7, but that turned out to be just the sign up(for a 15 minute spot), playing started at 9 and actually started at about 10 after. I was 5th on the list and at 9:40 the first guy was still playing so I left.
There's others on Sunday and Tuesday so I have to check those out.
Now, I've found the crowds at these tend to be the most forgiving as far as your mistakes. You'll strill get the butterflies before you play and that's a good thing but go and enjoy it, that's a big part of why we play these things!

Thanks, Beal. That's the first time I've plugged in my SBG in anger! It held me up very well, especially when I put my fingers in the right places.

Sounds fun, Luke. There's one I do regularly with the nicest people you could find, good musicians who love to sit in with you or have you sit in with them and give you genuine, but nice, critiques to help you improve. Keep at it!
