Anybody have a wish list for 2012, gear, skills or otherwise?
Mine include improving my finger style technique, paying off the mortgage, and retiring from my primary job at year end.

Hey there Prof, I retired four years ago @ age 56. Get out as soon as you can....then enjoy life. It gos by too fast. After you retire you'll have more time to hone in the fingerstyle. My wish list is for good health and maybe an OM spruce/hog although I need another guitar like........ Also I've been asked by several local musicians to get back in the loop by playing a few coffee house type gigs. Might just do that!

I was 40 when I started schoolteaching, so I won't be really able to retire for a while, age 87 I think it is.
For 2012 I just hope to get the last of my kids on their own financially, and chip away at the debt load. I'm pretty satisfied with the guitars I have, and I just want to continue getting better at playing them. The custom SBG I've mentioned will probably have to wait until 2013. There are a couple-three chunks of myrtlewood drying in the garage, though, and this summer I think I'll see what kind of guitars I can make from them, probably t-styles, since I have all the templates made already, but maybe a bass, too.
I still can't see anything but red Xes for the pictures Dave posted, so if someone buys one of the 2012 LTDs, or a Tak 50th, I hope they'll post pictures.

....
to keep my current job, wife, and family.....LOL
to be able to play a few James Taylor, Neil Young, Kansas, Eagles or other songs well enough to play publicly for friends and family and them recognize the tune without me telling them....or them feeling obligated to give me encouragement.
get to point with chords and strumming that I can start some picking as well with pick or fingers to add between chords or even as short solo intros.
Remember, I am an absolute beginner at 48....even though I have played trumpet and other brass instruments for a few years in my youth.

well, now that the kids are all gone.........
downsize to a smaller house....with the goal of selling high and buying low (both hugely in my favor)! either completely retire or just go to a few days a week (kinda like now).......
continue to enjoy my time and hopefully good health with the wife and guitars and the kids
continue to go to great gatherings of the usual suspects.

Sell half of my guitars and learn to do the other half justice.
Record an album of all new songs.
Learn how to play in some open/alternate tunings.
Play out in front of people once a week.
I'm getting re-engaged in two business ventures so hope those pan out and pay off ... I could use the dough. I need to have a string of profitable years so I can retire in the style you all are enjoying.

Who'm I kidding? I do have a guitar on my wish list. http://www.takamine.com/archive/acousti ... ed_editionI watched one of these go by the other day on e-Bay, a 2005 LTD in nice condition, $670 shipped. I got to looking at the specs (OM size, all-solid hog, CT4B, wide nut, if our nut-width guide is accurate,) and I think I'll watch for one of these next time around. I was sorely tempted by this one, but it was in Maryland, I think, and I remembered the awful story a couple years ago involving the 340 Nashville crossing the country in winter.

OK, there was some other jubberish there before, I see it's been removed.
I have had a new mason jar, 113proof, straight clear. It's half gone after two nights. I think it was really good. I'm not going to do that again for a little while.

Heh heh.... 1/2 gone mason jar
I would guess that there appears to be a lot of gibberish after that.
