What's the deal with the contestants on American Idol this season and all the high-end Takamine guitars they're playing? I think I've only seen one or two other brands. Are those loaners or did they cut a special deal?

Probably a smart local rep dropped off a bunch to the producers before the season started, and then makes sure they're out and available all the time.

Assuming it's not an accident/coincidence I'd say it's a stroke of brilliant marketing by Takamine. Well done.

They used Gibsons last night and this year there are a few creative and out of the ordinary, guitar playing performers. A couple were street performers. I watch with my daughters, it is different this year.
