Got to play a Tak LTD 2012 today in a mom and pop store. Finish was spectacular. I looked, but coud not find a single blemish. It was amazing. More on the finish in a minute.

My eyes were drawn to the tuner buttons because they looked dulled. Turns out they are brass and were dull. Not sure I'm crazy about brass being used here.

Another thing tat caught my eye was the use of gold laced kimono cloth on the binding and rosette ala Miyabi. Looked good though, very understated yet elegant.

Loved the pinless bridge, neck felt good, but a bit tight for me. I need a little more give at bridge and/or nut for optimal playing enjoyment.

Tone wise, it has a very piano-esque sound, what you would expect from high quality spruce over rosewood on a high end Tak. That being said, I think the finish may negatively impact the sound somewhat...but that is merely my unsubstantiated and subjective opinion.

Peeking through the sound hole, things looked a bit messy. That surprised me because I've never seen a Tak, g series included, with visible glue or scratches on the back wood near the label. I suspect those features were added after this bad boy left the Takamine mountain HQ.

Overall, beautiful guitar, great tone, I'm wanting to get one! Maybe not this one though...
