Any idea why they have gone to a 1-piece saddle on this model?

Have a great week ahead, everyone!

All the SGN models have 1 piece saddle. Might be a cost issue. The idea of these models was to keep the price point low.

Does anyone know what the GN designation stands for. I dug around the Takamine web site and GN only seems to show up for the Noveau & Santa Fe guitar series.

I should have my EF340SCGN in my hands in another week and a half so I have been searching the web for info while I wait....Thanks

I suspect that the 'N' in the 'GN' stands for Nutmeg stain. Not sure about the G... "GNutmeg" perhaps?

The N could very well designate the nutmeg stain. Good thinking
Perhaps the G designates the cedar top...I sent an email to Takamine a few days back asking but I did not get any response.

Got a response today from Takamine Corporate per my query on the GN designation... :D

" The "GN" stands for "Genuine Natural" refering to the satin finish used on those models. Takamine keeps the retail cost of those guitars lower because they do not have thicker gloss finishes. Hope this helps!"

I have a EF341 and don't think there is anything cheap abut that unit. It has a 1 piece saddle. Cant believe cost is a factor. No idea why
