I am new here - first post. I am currently looking to buy on Ebay a Takamine F390s - from the 1970's. Can someone tell me if the rosewood back and sides is laminate or solid in addition does anyone currently own one to comment on the quality.

The F390S has a solid wood top and laminated back and sides. Taks were lam until sometime in the 90's. The S in F390S stands for solid top. No S as in F390 would mean lam top. Double S (SS) as in F390SS would mean solid top and back with lam sides.
Best,
Blues

Thank you for that, whilst the guy selling the guitar insists it is a solid rosewood not laminate I am inclined to agree with you. Any knowledge of the quality of this guitar model? - unfortunately the seller is in another state therefore I can't actually get to play it.
