Wow, that looks like a great guitar! Did you buy one?

I think this guitar is so beautiful. 99.44% sure I will buy one for my wife. If you havent seen the one of a kind Raicho, its stunning.

Four of these came into Singapore this month and I had a chance to play one this week. This is definitely a player, although the inlay work is of course stunning. Some of the highlights for me:

- The cedar top has been stained an 'antique white' which makes it look a bit like Engelmann Spruce from a distance. I've never seen this finish on any guitar top before and it's really unique.
- Jet black ebony fingerboard and bridge. The bridge is the Japanese domestic model pattern which has the raised, reinforced area around the saddles.
- CTP-3 preamp, studio and stage ready.
- The cedar/Ovangkol wood combination works extremely well - bright and airy without being too warm/muddy. This is a great all-around guitar which has the natural compression of Cedar but is still is able to get reasonably loud.
- Solid top and back with laminate sides gives the best durability IMO, especially with that relatively heavy preamp (remember it takes four AA batteries) hanging off the inside.
- The tuners are very unique - they have ivoroid buttons with a very tasteful 'matt gold' finish to the body of the tuner. I don't think I've seen them on any other Takamine.
- The attention to detail in all areas is superb, but on the one I played I noticed that they had gone to great lengths to finish and polish the nut to absolute perfection.
- STILL using horrendous plastic bridge pins...

Definitely one to check out, especially if you don't have an Ovangkol guitar or like the very pale look of the top... or if you just like butterflies ;)

Regards,
Bruno

No, I won't be buying one but I always get excited to see what the new LTD is going to look like every year. :D
